Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson Enters GOP Presidential Race

“First time to say it. ‘I am running for President,’” former Republican Governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson said via Twitter. He also launched a campaign website.

Though he’s a longshot candidate, he would likely give Rep. Ron Paul a run for the libertarian vote: He supports the legalization of marijuana and gay civil unions.

Johnson wasted no time outlining his priorities as an official presidential hopeful. Two minutes after his initial post, he tweeted: “Right now, we need to fix the fiscal mess. The writing of a financial collapse is on the wall. Balance the federal budget tomorrow."

He also subsequently said the U.S. should get out of Iraq and Afghanistan "tomorrow" and that he's opposed to U.S. military involvement in Libya.

Johnson is the latest in a string of presidential hopefuls using social media sites to break their big news.
