Obama tapping Wasserman Schultz for DNC Chair

President Obama is expected to announce Tuesday evening that Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz will become the new chair of the Democratic National Committee. The four-term representative will replace former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, who announced earlier that he will run for the Senate in 2012.

Wasserman Schultz represents Florida's 20th Congressional district, which runs from Fort Lauderdale in the north to Miami Beach in the south. In recent years she has been a prominent spokesman for the Democratic Party and is expected to play a key role in trying to help Obama win her home state in his reelection bid next year.
