Cruz Defeats Dewhurst In Texas Senate Runoff - AP.

  •  With 20 percent of precincts reporting, former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz has 54 percent to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst's 46 percent. The AP has called the race for Cruz.
  •  The win is a huge victory for tea party activists, who rallied behind Cruz’s campaign early when his prospects of winning appeared low.  Cruz also received support from an array of national conservative icons, including Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum and Jim DeMint. Expect Cruz to be another member of the DeMint caucus, joining uncompromising conservatives, like Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
  •  The results are a blow to Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who marshaled the Texas political establishment behind Dewhurst and appeared in several ads. For more on the results, go to Hotline on Call.
