This week we’re all things Democratic convention. National Journal reporters shifted from Tampa, Fla., to Charlotte, N.C., to get the Democratic take on the issues from their party leaders.
Like last week, our podcast will be broken down into three segments featuring the best from our on-the-scene panel discussions in Charlotte. After hearing from Mitt Romney’s camp last week about its superior social media outreach last week, it seemed only fair to give the Obama team a chance to respond in our first segment. Obama chief digital strategist Joe Rospars will explain his campaign's strategy and why the President did an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit.
For our second segment, we’ll do some political prognosticating. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will detail her plan to retake the House, party will discuss impact of redistricting on House races, and journalists will try to give the impartial take.
Finally, we’ll dive into energy policy in our third segment with former six-term Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, a Democrat, and Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo. The two will explore Obama’s record thus far on coal, oil, and renewable energy before looking ahead to where each candidate might stand on future energy policy if elected.
