A plane carrying first lady Michelle Obama had to abort landing at Andrews Air Force on Monday after coming perilously close to a military jet, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.
The incident happened as a result of an air traffic controller's mistake, the Post quoted federal officials as saying.
The first lady was returning from a TV appearance with Jill Biden in New York aboard a 737 when controllers realized the first lady's plane would be too close to a C-17, a large military transport plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration, which has been in the headlines recently because of controversy over air traffic controllers, said on Tuesday that it was sending investigators to Warrenton, Va., where the radar control center is located to see where the problem occurred, the Post reported.
