Bipartisan “gangs” in Congress have been assigned to draft legislation from environmental policy to health care reform, but they usually fail to produce anything both chambers can agree to pass. The "Gang of Six" deficit-reduction effort may be no different. Even after Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., rejoined the group this week and the gang proposed a budget outline to reduce the deficit by $3.7 trillion over 10 years, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid , D-Nev., said that there isn't enough time to consider the proposal. Reid did say, however, that he'd consider including individual provisions from the outline in a final debt deal.
