Word for Word: Best Quotes of the Week, in Pictures

September 2, 2011

Former U.S. Senate candidate from Delaware and tea party darling Christine O'Donnell tweeted jibberish—literally—this week, the chairman of the Republican National Committee called President Obama the "campaigner in chief," and Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., invoked conservative legends Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Here's a look at the week in quotes.

"We're not saying the president shouldn't go on a bus tour.... I think the president of the United States certainly has a right to go where he chooses to go." -- Gov. Terry Branstad, R-Iowa, Aug. 29 (PHOTO: ALEX WONG/GETTY IMAGES)(Alex Wong/Getty Images)

"I'm taking a fresh look at the candidates. I'm giving them room to change." --Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., Sept. 1 (PHOTO: MARK WILSON/GETTY IMAGES)(Mark Wilson/Getty Images)

"Will I eventually support Obama on his reelection? Probably. Do I disagree with him on his Israel policy? Absolutely" -- Democratic N.Y. Assemblyman Dave Weprin, running for Rep. Anthony Weiner's former seat, Aug. 31 (PHOTO: KEN GOLDFIELD/AP)(AP PHOTO/KEN GOLDFIELD, POOL)

"It took two very strong leaders on the world stage, one a woman and one a man, to reverse the course of their respective countries." -- Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., inviting comparisons to Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, Sept. 1 (PHOTO: SAUL LOEB/AFP/GETTY)(SAUL LOEB/AFP/GETTY IMAGES)
