When Will the GOP Candidates Release Their Tax Returns? — PICTURES

January 18, 2012

Whether Republican presidential candidate and front-runner Mitt Romney would release his income-tax returns has dominated headlines since the issue came up at a South Carolina debate. Here's a look at when and whether candidates will release their returns.

Newt Gingrich says he will release his return when President Obama releases his tax return, which is expected on Thursday. He estimated he pays a 31 percent tax rate on his income to the government.(AP Photo/David Goldman)

Ron Paul did not say he would release his tax returns, but as a member of Congress he files financial disclosure forms. According to Open Secrets, his net worth is between $1.9 million and $5.2 million.  (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak, Pool)

Mitt Romney said he would probably release his income tax returns in April and that his income probably is taxed at a rate of 15 percent.  (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)

Rick Santorum has called for Mitt Romney to release his tax forms, something the former Pennsylvania senator has done in the past. It's not clear when he will release his latest returns.  (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)
