What Happens When Congress Is Away -- PICTURES

April 11, 2012

When Congress is away, do Hill workers play? No, not at all. But the atmosphere is a little more relaxed, as it has been the past couple of weeks as shown in the photos below.

In the office of Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., Timothy Tracy watches as Jasper gets his belly rubbed by Justin Brower, who works in the office of Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Md. Tracy says having a dog in the office "definitely helps with office morale."(Chet Susslin)

Despite the House and Senate being off these past two weeks, security around the Capitol itself is just as busy as ever, according to the Capitol Police stationed there. (Chet Susslin)

Capitol Police Officer Jeremy Krzyzanowicz says his post at the Hart Senate Office Building is "one of the busier entrances.... Normally there would be a line out this door."(Chet Susslin)
