What Do Drones of the Future Look Like? Pentagon Crowd-Sources Next UAV -- VIDEO

The next unmanned aerial vehicle might come from YouTube.

A contest led by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic is soliciting designs and feedback for a new generation of small UAVs via online video.

The top designer gets a $100,000 prize and fabrication of up to 15 copies of the project. You can "like" and "dislike" different submissions on the contest website. The competition culminates in a fly-off in May.

Below, watch a DARPA video showing a possible application for the small UAV, followed by some of the most "liked" videos, which come from around the world and include live action and videogame-like animations:
