Rick Santorum on Thursday questioned a new Pentagon move to let women fill thousands of frontline jobs, saying that it could compromise a mission "because of the emotions that are involved."

After his comment made headlines overnight, he clarified on Friday that he was talking about men's emotions in reaction to seeing women in harm's way.
