Critics and opponents have jumped on remarks by one of Mitt Romney's top campaign advisers that play into an image of the former Massachusetts governor as a shape-shifter.

Eric Fehrnstrom this week tried to dismiss concerns that playing to the GOP's right wing during the primary might hurt Romney in the general election, saying, "It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch -- you can kind of shake it up and we start all over again."
