Here's a look at the members closest to the idelogocial center of the Senate, according to National Journal's 2011 vote ratings

Scott Brown, R-Mass., had a composite liberal score of 44.7 and a composite conservative score of 55.3.(AP Photo/Stephan Savoia)

Susan Collins, R-Maine, had a composite liberal score of 46.3 and a composite conservative score of 53.7.(Liz Lynch)

Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., had a composite liberal score of 57.7 and a composite conservative score of 42.3.(Liz Lynch)

Ben Nelson, D-Neb., had a composite liberal score of 48.8 and a composite conservative score of 51.2. Nelson's scores make him, along with one other senator, the chamber's most centrist member, according to the vote ratings.(Chet Susslin)

Mark Pryoer, D-Ark., had a composite liberal score of 50.7 and a composite conservative score of 49.3, putting him in the very middle, along with Nelson of Nebraska.

 

Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, who announced that she won't seek reelection in 2012, had a composite liberal score of 45 and a composite conservative score of 55.(Liz Lynch)
