The summer months used to be quiet for presidential candidates. They were a time to settle down before the final sprint to election day. Not any more, reports George Condon. Modern campaigns use every day possible to strengthen polling numbers.
In the summer of 1992, soon-to-be President Clinton had a wide range of odd photo ops: He played saxophone for Arsenio Hall, wore matching hard hats at a recycling plant with running mate Al Gore, helped a bride (in wedding gown) on to the stage of a rally, just to name a few.
