The New York Times is reporting that Pakistan's top military spy agency has arrested five informants who aided the CIA in run-up to the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

Citing American officials, the informants arrested include a major in the Pakistani Army who kept track of license plate numbers on cars visiting bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The incident continues to fuel tensions between the two countries, who are allies in the war on terror.

Officials said CIA Director Leon Panetta raised the issue with Pakistani officials when he visited the country last week, but that the fate of the informants is unclear.
