President Obama said he wasn't ruling out the possibility of a recess appointment following the block Thursday by Senate Republicans of his nomination as director of the Consumer Finance Protection Board.
Speaking to reporters, Obama said he would 'look at all of our options'.
"My hope and expectation is that the Republicans who block this nomination come to their senses," he said. "And I know that some of them have made an argument, we just want to sort of make modifications in the law. Well, they are free to introduce a bill and get that passed."
Richard Cordary's appointment was long opposed by Republican leaders who've insisted the Dodd-Frank financial reform law be rewritten to make structural changes before they consider the nominee.
