President Bush meets with the former commander of Multi-National Force-Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus (White House, 11:15 a.m.), meets with Panamanian President Martin Torrijos Espino (Oval Office, 1:15 p.m.) and attends an Iftaar dinner with ambassadors and Muslim leaders. (State Dining Room, 7:50 p.m.)

• Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman delivers remarks to the National Petroleum Council's 118th meeting featuring an update on its report, "Facing the Hard Truths about Energy." (Fairmont Hotel, 9:05 a.m.)

 

• Housing and Urban Development Secretary Steven Preston speaks to the Exchequer Club of Washington, D.C. on the housing market challenges. (Mayflower Hotel, 12:10 p.m.)

• The Senate meets at 9:30 a.m. for morning business and 10:30 a.m. to resume consideration of S.3001, the Defense Authorization bill.

• The House meets at 10 a.m. for legislative business.
