President Bush meets with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (Oval Office, 10:05 a.m.), participates in a National Security Adviser's meeting (Roosevelt Room, 2:15 p.m.) and later attends a Max Fisher National Republican Award Dinner. (Laurel Manor, Livonia, Mich., 5:15 p.m.)

• Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff delivers remarks at the meeting of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. (Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 10 a.m.)

• Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson meets with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung (Treasury Department) and later delivers remarks to the Asia Society of Washington's 21st annual dinner. (Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 6:30 p.m.)

 

• The Senate meets at 9:30 a.m. to resume consideration of the House message to accompany H.R.3221, the "Housing and Economic Recovery Act."
