POSSIBLE OBAMA NOMINEES

Potential Justices: Cass Sunstein

Sat. Jul 26, 2008

Sunstein

Professor, Harvard Law School

Age: 53

Details: One of the nation's most prominent, wide-ranging and prolific legal scholars, he is a friend, supporter and sometime adviser to Obama, a former colleague at the University of Chicago Law School. A politically active liberal who has lamented the "absence of anything like a heroic vision on the court's left," Sunstein also has an empirical, moderate side, sometimes questioning conventional liberal views. He clerked for Justice Thurgood Marshall. On July 4, he married Samantha Power, a friend and former foreign policy adviser to the candidate.
