Future Corps
The Marine Corps, like the Army, has worn out a lot of equipment in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is facing big bills to pay for the future force the Corps says it needs.
After five years of grueling ground warfare alongside the Army in Iraq, the Marine Corps wants to return to its historic role as a shipborne rapid-reaction force. But reverting to this role will be expensive because the Corps has worn out much of its equipment in Iraq.
