Politics - Obama's Iraq Evolution
On October 26, 2002, two weeks after Congress authorized President Bush to use force in Iraq, Barack Obama, then a state senator running for re-election in a liberal Chicago district, denounced the looming conflict as "a dumb war ... a rash war." Since then, he has repeatedly said that if he had been in the U.S. Senate at that time, he would have voted against the Iraq resolution.
