The U.S. Institute of Peace, a small, anomalous “think-and-do tank” that Congress set up in 1984, is winning plaudits from both parties, and from experts worldwide, for its efforts to give peace a chance.
An obscure government agency called the U.S. Institute of Peace spends its time in the growing no man’s land between war and peace. The institute, which is breaking ground on a building off the National Mall, focuses on prevention, resolution, and post-conflict peace and stability.
