U.S. officials confirmed on Tuesday that a CIA drone attack on Monday killed al-Qaida’s second in command, Abu Yahya al-Libi, the Associated Press reports.
The strike took place in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal area. The Taliban had previously refuted the claims, saying the al-Qaida leader was not in the home that was attacked.
Monday's attack was one of the half-dozen drone strikes the U.S. carried out in Pakistan in the last two weeks.
