Report: Senior Iranian Commander Linked to Alleged Plot to Kill Saudi Ambassador

The cousin of the man charged with plotting to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States is Abdul Reza Shahlai, a senior commander in Iran's Quds Force, The Washington Post reported Friday.

The report that Shahlai is the cousin of Mansour Arbabsiar, the U.S. citizen charged this week with conspiring to kill Saudi Amb. Adel al-Jubeir, crystallizes the extent to which officials believe Iran was tied to the alleged plot.

Shahlai, the Post reported, was also linked to the killing of U.S. troops in Iraq in 2007.
