The CIA is seeking approval from the White House to expand its inventory of armed drones by as many as 10, a "move that would extend the spy service's decade-long transformation into a paramilitary force," The Washington Post reports, citing American officials.

If approved, the additional drones will allow the agency to maintain its abilities to attack al-Qaida targets in Pakistan and Yemen while addressing emerging al-Qaida threats elsewhere, according to The Post.
