Following pressure from senators from both parties, former CIA Director David Petraeus will testify on the Benghazi terrorist attack, Fox News reports.

The appearance was thought to be delayed, or even scrubbed, because of his recent resignation amid a scandal that has rocked Washington. But the retired general is now expected to testify in front of the House and Senate intelligence committees.

The exact schedule for his appearances has not yet been set, but Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., confirmed on Wednesday that Petraeus would appear before lawmakers.

"Mr. Petraeus has indicated his willingness [to testify],” she told Politico. “He is eager to come before the committee so we will work out the details.”

NBC News reports he will testify before the Senate committee on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., continued his attack on President Obama’s handling of the attack, saying he wants a special, select committee similar to ones created for the Watergate and Iran-Contra scandals.

“I’m much more concerned about the loss of four American lives in Benghazi, the president not telling the truth about what happened there, and what he knew and when he knew it,” McCain said on CBS’s This Morning. “We need a select committee to get to the bottom of this because American people deserve the truth.”
