No. 2 Al-Qaida Leader in Afghanistan Killed by NATO Strike

A NATO strike has killed al-Qaida’s second-highest leader in Afghanistan, the U.S.-led coalition said on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

Sakhr al-Tarif was killed on Sunday in the eastern Kunar province. He was known for leading attacks against NATO and Afghan forces using foreign insurgents. No civilians were killed in the attack, AP reports.
