The United Nations General Assembly voted on Friday to turn over Libya's seat there to the National Transitional Council, the group which led the rebellion ousting Libyan leader Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, according to reports.
The move won with 114 votes, while 17 Assembly members voted against it and 15 abstained, the Associated Press reported.
Meanwhile, forces escalated an assault on two Qaddafi strongholds, encountering "fierce resistance" from his loyalists, according to the AP.
