Did Benjamin Netanyahu crib from a hawkish U.S. senator when it comes to talking about Israel’s destiny and fate?
In remarks to President Barack Obama at the White House Monday regarding the possibility of strikes against Iran, the Israeli prime minister said the following: “My supreme responsibility as prime minister of Israel is to ensure that Israel remains the master of its fate." He also noted: "After all, that is the very purpose of the Jewish state, to restore to the Jewish people control over our destiny.”
That's pretty similar to words uttered by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. Indeed, Graham claimed he had specific advice for Netanyahu when he met with him in Israel last month. “My advice to the Israeli prime minister, and I’ve told this to his face: Never lose control of your own destiny,” he said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends Monday, just ahead of Netanyahu’s remarks. “The Jewish people’s existence is at stake here.”
