The dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial will now take place on Oct. 16, the Associated Press reported.

The dedication was to be held on Aug. 28, but was canceled ahead of Hurricane Irene.

The new date was scheduled so that President Obama could attend, according to the AP, though the White House did not confirm that the president would be there.

Oct. 16 is the 16th anniversary of 1995's Million Man March, which took place on the National Mall.
