Republican Geoff Davis defeated Nick Clooney (D) to replace retiring 4th District Rep. Ken Lucas (D) in one of the nation's most-watched House races. In the 6th District, Rep. Ben Chandler (D) won a full term after defeating Alice Forgy Kerr (R) in a Febuary special election. The seat had been vacated when Ernie Fletcher (R) was sworn in as governor on Dec. 9, 2003.
