Rep. Mark Udall (D) shows off his mountain climbing skills in his latest ad, which touts his ability to weather obstacles and connect with constituents.
An avid outdoorsman who served as executive director of Colorado Outward Bound for a decade, Udall is shown in the ad climbing a mountain to reach a "neighborhood meeting" at the summit. As he climbs, Udall narrates: "You've got to know where you want to go and how to get past the obstacles and naysayers" to be a "good representative."
When Udall arrives at the top, an elderly man spots him and yells, "Hey, he's here." Udall greets awaiting citizens as the ad announces: "In the last two years, Mark Udall has held some 566 meetings with constituents." If re-elected to serve in Colorado's 2nd District, he will go "to great lengths to listen and get things done."
The commercial was produced by Greer Margolis Mitchell Burns and started running on Oct. 31 in an ad buy priced at $137,000.
Udall's campaign has focused on environmental issues and health care -- both issues he has addressed in previous ads. Although he will face three opponents on Election Day, pundits have all but named Udall the victor.
