The initial $2 billion in trading losses suffered by JPMorgan Chase has grown to at least $3 billion, according to The New York Times.

The bank's chief executive, Jamie Dimon, said last week that the amount lost was expected to rise, saying that it could double within the next few quarters.

The Federal Reserve is examining the scope of the growing losses and the Federal Bureau of Investigation launched a probe into the case this week.
