Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., concedes the Florida 3rd District GOP primary.

  • Rep. Cliff Stearns has conceded the Republican primary for Florida's 3rd congressional district to veterinarian Ted Yoho, according to The Associated Press.
  • Redistricting moved Stearns into some new territory, and a late winter accusation that he tried to bribe another opponent out of the race damaged Stearns's image. Meanwhile, Yoho consolidated a large portion of the anti-incumbent vote with his outsider businessman credentials.
  • Stearns is the 12th House member to lose a primary this cycle, and the fifth to lose to a non-incumbent challenger.
