Barack Obama scored a majority of IA's delegates to the nat'l convo at the Dem party's district convos 4/26, showing little change from the county convos last month. Obama snagged 16 of the 29 delegates, followed by Hillary Clinton, who picked up 9. John Edwards picked up 4 delegates.
Clinton Midwest chair Jerry Crawford said Obama's loss of a delegate in eastern IA's 1st CD shows Clinton gaining after her win in PA. Ex-Dem chair Dave Nagle "said the results show Obama remains strong and Clinton is hanging on." Nagle: "The Clinton people are looking for anything to hang their hat on."
"There are still 16 pledged delegates to be selected" at the state convo 6/14. Based on results from the county convos, "Obama has enough strength" to capture 8 of these, leaving 5 for Clinton and 3 for Edwards, "If that holds, that would give Obama 24 of the state's pledged delegates going into the national convention, followed by Clinton with 14 and Edwards with seven"(Eby, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Post and Courier, 4/27).
