"We've finally got a game in the presidential primary." Hillary Clinton "pounded a campaign stake" into SD politics 4/24 "by announcing that Beresford native Geoff Wetrosky will be her state director." Ex-Dem chair Judy Olson Duhamel: "I think Pennsylvania was a real shot in the arm. I think the Clinton campaign is cooking. I look forward to working with the new state director and getting the word out on Hillary. She has a wonderful story to tell."

"She also has a game of catch-up to play. The Clinton campaign begins well behind the more organized Obama machine, which has been rumbling" across SD for weeks. "It has an operations staff, offices in Rapid City and Sioux Falls, a cadre of well-known supporters and endorsements" and a TV ad set to appear soon."

"Obama hasn't announced a visit to the state, but staffers say he plans to come here." Clinton spokesperson Blake Zeff "said it was too soon to say whether" HRC, Bill Clinton or Chelsea will visit SD (Woster, Rapid City Journal, 4/25).

Election 2012 – Managing Alternatives

5:06 p.m.

In politics, the language of choice often comes loaded. School choice. Abortion rights. Public option. Proponents embrace these descriptions to put the best possible face on otherwise contentious issues. This was one of the weeks when the politics of alternatives defined the debate.
