NEW MEXICO (2/5 CAUCUSES, 6/3 PRIMARY)

But Delegate Status Is All She's Got!

A group of Hillary Clinton supporters, including 4 NM superdelegates, has accused the state Dem Party "of breaking national and state party rules when it nominated a 12th superdelegate" for NM. "The woman chosen has said she is undecided, but the Clinton group believes she is a Barack Obama supporter. They nominated their own candidate, who they think leans toward Clinton."

Led by ex-NM Dem Chair John Wertheim, "the group is calling for a runoff election by mail to determine" NM's final superdelegate. "The group says that state and party rules require a runoff because none of the add-on superdelegate candidates received a majority vote." Dem spokesperson John Geise said 5/1 "the party followed both national and state party rules and will not hold a runoff election" (Clark, AP, 5/1).
