Not Even A Little Intimidated?

Updated: November 18, 2010 | 10:28 p.m.

WY Gov. Dave Freudenthal (D) "said he's curious about what Bill Clinton might have to say -- but won't be intimidated by" Bill Clinton's "oratorical skills -- when they square off on behalf of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton" in MT this weekend. They will be the key speakers an annual Dem Party dinner at MT State Univ. 5/10.

Freudenthal: "He is clearly one of the finest political orators, if the the finest political orator, on the stage in America today. So for that reason, if no other, I just kind of look forward to watching the guy. He's amazing." Freudenthal said "he wouldn't try to match the president's 'rhetorical splendor." He said he's not writing a speech "--he doesn't usually do that, anyway -- but does expect to get a packet of talking points form the Obama camp."

Freudenthal: "I mean, what's he going to do? Sue me? Take away my birthday? It is what is is" (AP, 5/8).

Election 2012 – Managing Alternatives

5:06 p.m.

In politics, the language of choice often comes loaded. School choice. Abortion rights. Public option. Proponents embrace these descriptions to put the best possible face on otherwise contentious issues. This was one of the weeks when the politics of alternatives defined the debate.
