Needing Some Guidance

AZ Dems "are looking" to the PA primary "to provide guidance" on which way the nomination may swing as they prepare for the party's state convo on 4/26 in Phoenix. The state convo is where the Dems will choose the last 2 of 11 superdelegates in preparation for the national convo. AZ Dem VP Jeff Latas: "I see a little rift in the party right now, but I think it will come back together." Latas thinks the nomination will be settled by early summer, when the primaries wrap up. AZ AG Terry Goddard likely "will be the only nominee" for the superdelegate position called the "distinguished party leader." Four people are "vying" for the second superdelegate position, which also carries the duties of vice chair of the AZ Dems (Ryman, Arizona Republic, 4/21).

Election 2012 – Managing Alternatives

5:06 p.m.

In politics, the language of choice often comes loaded. School choice. Abortion rights. Public option. Proponents embrace these descriptions to put the best possible face on otherwise contentious issues. This was one of the weeks when the politics of alternatives defined the debate.
