Keep On Trucking

Trucking co. exec. Chris Gorman (R) "has launched the first" TV ad in the race to replace Rep. Jim McCrery (R). The ad, titled "Wanted To Know," will air on broadcast and cable TV throughout the CD beginning today (release, 4/22).

Full script:

GORMAN: "I'm Chris Gorman, and here's what I want to know. Why is Washington even considering raising our taxes? Shouldn't they do a little belt-tightening first? And why is there so much talk, and so little action, when it comes to actually cutting Washington's ridiculous spending? Why do so many politicians fall silent when it comes to truly protecting the unborn? And shouldn't we have someone with business experience fighting for us in Washington, so we can have better job opportunities right here at home? It's time for answers. I'm Chris Gorman, and I approve this message."

Election 2012 – Managing Alternatives

5:06 p.m.

In politics, the language of choice often comes loaded. School choice. Abortion rights. Public option. Proponents embrace these descriptions to put the best possible face on otherwise contentious issues. This was one of the weeks when the politics of alternatives defined the debate.
