Not Steering Clear
"Desperate to unify" the GOP before the fall, Min. Leader John Boehner (OH-08) "has organized a small group" of House GOPers to "advise" the NRCC. The group was a "joint venture" with NRCC Chair Tom Cole (OK-04), who has "sparred" with Boehner in the last year over "operations and personnel" at the cmte. The group "will meet regularly" to plot strategy, chart fundraising and "coordinate member efforts" as the fall approaches (O'Connor, Politico's "Crypt" blog, 5/7).
The 12-person org "is largely made up" of Members "already involved" with the NRCC. They are: Boehner, Cole, Reps. Devin Nunes (CA-21), Kevin McCarthy (CA-22), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Thad McCotter (MI-11), Candice Miller (MI-10), Eric Cantor (VA-07), Tom Davis (VA-11), Jeb Hensarling (TX-05), John Kline (MN-02), and Pat Tiberi (OH-12) (Wilson, RealClearPolitics.com, 5/8).
