Pres. Bush "seemed to be in just a weird, hyper mood" 4/29 a.m. when he called a Rose Garden presser to talk about the economy. Bush "didn't make much news," saying at one point: "I'm at a loss for words." But he did have lighthearted exchanges with a few reporters, for instance deciding to call Bloomberg's Roger Runningen "Mr. Sunshine" for being such a "friendly guy" (Mason, "Beltway Confidential," Houston Chronicle, 4/29).
Meanwhile, the cost of first daughter Jenna Bush's 5/10 wedding to Henry Hager "has become such a running joke" at the WH that counsel Fred Fielding "recently gave Bush a piggy bank to help him save up." Fielding reports Bush thanked him, but joked, "Not big enough." Fielding also "says he wasn't invited to the wedding," but few admin officials were. The guest list is so exclusive, even for family, it was reportedly "capped at first cousins" (Akers, "The Sleuth," WashingtonPost.com, 4/29).
