False Alarm
It turns out instead of robocalling thousands of NJ voters "to find his lost cat," all North Arlington Mayor Peter Massa and wife Val "had to do was check inside" their house. Max, a "20-pound Maine Coon," was found "inside a wall" early 4/17 a.m., after he'd apparently "squeezed through a 5-inch hole." V. Massa, who heard Max and went to investigate: "He's so big, we don't know how he got into this tiny hole. But once he got in he had a very hard time getting out." The $10 spent on the robocall was not taxpayer money (Flores, AP, 4/17).
Revenge Is A Dish Best Served With A Citation
"Men and women who seduce married people could be sued by jilted spouses" under a proposal that won initial approval in the SC state Senate 4/17. Sponsoring Sen. Jake Knotts: "Enough homes are broken up without interference from outside the family" (Davenport, AP, 4/18).
How Do You Capture The Essence Of New Jersey In Mere Words?
NJ lawmakers are "venturing into another divisive area: The State Slogan." Leaders have been looking to replace "New Jersey and You, Perfect Together" since '82. A few think a local eighth grader "has a hit" with: "New Jersey: Home for All Seasons." But state Sen. Pres. Dick Codey (D) "isn't buying." Codey previously rejected a consulting firm's $260K suggestion: "New Jersey: We'll Win You Over" (AP, 4/17).
