Lankford Leads in New Poll

Candidates need to get at least 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff.

Rep. James Lank­ford (R) is lead­ing former state House Speak­er T.W. Shan­non (R) in a new poll ahead of the Ok­lahoma Re­pub­lic­an Sen­ate primary, ac­cord­ing to a News9/News­on 6 poll. “The poll, taken June 19-21, shows Lank­ford with 43.4 per­cent and Shan­non with 34.9 per­cent, with 13.3 per­cent of likely Re­pub­lic­an voters still un­de­cided.”

Can­did­ates need to get at least 50% of the vote to avoid a run­off. (News 9)

SCF WEIGHS IN: Out­side groups are spend­ing as much as hun­dreds of thou­sands of dol­lars try­ing to in­flu­ence the race, in­clud­ing more than $150,000 in re­cently pur­chased TV air time from the Sen­ate Con­ser­vat­ives Fund. The group has now spent more than $350,000 on the Ok­lahoma primary back­ing Shan­non. (News­OK)

DR. NO CLONE: While both Lank­ford and Shan­non have com­pared them­selves to the re­tir­ing Sen. Tom Coburn (R), the con­gress­man has “spent much of his three years in Con­gress try­ing to be the House ver­sion of Coburn.” (News­OK)
