Thanks For Giving
The economy's in a free-fall and everyone says things will only get worse. But here at The Hotline, we have a lot to be thankful for:
--- Bill Clinton. Anyone wanna guess how long before the first "conflict of interest" surfaces?
-- Viva Las Vegas! NV's Gibbons and Reid are up in the same year. More excuses for us to keep up with Reno rodeos and grand juries.
-- Competitive and colorful folks in NJ and VA GOV. Plus, now that VA's a real swing state, we can say the race is a "bellwether" w/out irony.
-- Reps. Jean Schmidt (R-OH), Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and John Murtha (D-PA). The voters gave you all another shot, guys. Keep up the funny business!
-- Sarah Palin's nat'l "rebranding" tour; Don't let us down, Tina Fey. We know you've got another SNL season in 'ya.
-- Most important, we know that while the pace of daily news may have slowed, nobody in this town can behave for long.
Quote of the Day
"No, not at all. And look, I think that was a little humility."
— Karl Rove, asked if he was offended by David Axelrod clarifying that he's "no Karl Rove," "Hannity & Colmes," FNC, 11/24.

If Ted Kaufman were to be sworn-in next week, he would already be 90th in overall Senate seniority by the time the rest of the freshman class gets sworn-in 1/6. But with Joe Biden taking the oath for a 7th term that day, Kaufman will instead replace Mark Begich as 100 out of 100 in Senate seniority shortly thereafter.
