Cue The Fat Lady?
IN and NC didn't provide us w/a "game changer" - neither Dem made big inroads into the other's base. But are they game-enders?
Based on today's headlines and TV coverage, you'd have to say yes. The fact that she held 60% of the white vote and narrowly carried a toss-up state no longer seems relevant. No parsing of the exit polls or debating the "true" number of delegates is going to change the reality: Obama will have the delegate and popular vote lead 6/3. Today's revelation that she loaned herself an additional $6.4M is yet another number working against her. Is McGovern's move the beginning of the super-deluge?
Clinton's only hope at capturing the nod is to show supers that she's the strongest candidate v. McCain, and that choosing her over the candidate who has captured almost all of the black vote wouldn't create fatal rifts for Dems. She can't prove either.
Of course, Obama still has a lot to prove too. If HRC stays in, doesn't he need to have a good showing in WV/KY to put those concerns to rest?
Quote of the Day
"I cannot find an objective Democrat who does not think this race is over."
— NBC's Tim Russert, "Today," 5/7
