It's The Money, Honey

There's some good news/bad news for SEN GOPers in 1stQ filings. In the good column, vulnerable incumbents are keeping up significant CoH leads over their challengers. The bad news: those pesky open seats. Dem challengers are racking up big numbers in NM, VA, and CO. Other nuggets:

--Just Some Good Old Boys: MS Sen. Wicker (R) raised an eye-popping $2.5M, while LA's Kennedy (R) outraised Sen. Landrieu (D) by more than $300K.

--Hey Big Spender: MN's Franken (D), once again, raised a lot ($2.2M) but burned through the most too ($1.8M). Sen. Coleman (R) has twice as much on hand.

--Those Flinty N.E.ers: NH Sen Sununu (R) spent just $128K -- less than any other endangered incumbent. He has also has twice as much cash in the bank as Shaheen (D).

--Cousins In Arms: NM Rep. T. Udall (D) outraised both GOPers combined. And, CO Rep. M. Udall has twice as much in the bank as Schaffer (R).

-- Sitting Pretty: OR Sen. Smith (R) has almost 8x's as much COH as the two Dems combined.

Quote of the Day

"I won't have this much restraint with the Republicans."

— Obama responding to question of how he avoids getting “pummeled” as the Dem. nominee, NBC/National Journal, 4/17
