Billionaire businessman Warren Buffett has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, news media reported on Tuesday.

Buffett, whose name has recently been attached to President Obama's proposal to tax millionaires, disclosed the cancer is stage 1, and his doctors told him it is not "remotely life threatening," according to a letter he sent to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders on Tuesday, according to The Wall Street Journal

In the letter Buffett said he will undergo two months of radiation treatment beginning in mid-July.

"I feel great — as if I were in my normal excellent health — and my energy level is 100 percent," he wrote.

On Monday, Senate Republicans blocked debate on the so-called Buffett Rule legislation.
