OBAMACARE MESSAGING WAR ON NATIONAL HEALTH SPENDING - Health Care Edge

OBAMACARE MESSAGING WAR ON NATIONAL HEALTH SPENDING - Health Care Edge

By Sam Baker, Sophie Novack and Clara Ritger

TODAY IN ONE PARAGRAPH: National health care spending is growing at a snail's pace -- below 4 percent for the fourth year in a row -- prompting another round in the running debate over whether Obamacare deserves part of the credit. Medicare's actuaries said probably not, attributing the slow growth mainly to the recession. The White House said yes, noting the health care law's cuts in Medicare spending. This debate has been raging for years and will probably keep raging until health care spending either goes back up or stays low even as the economy gains a lot more steam. With new data arriving late yesterday, the messaging war could be only beginning.
