Andy Rooney, who until last month appeared regularly on the popular CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes, died on Friday night in New York City after complications following minor surgery, CBS announced. He was 92-years-old.

Rooney spent more than 60 years working for the Tiffany Network. He was a mainstay on 60 Minutes, delivering a total of 1,097 (often cranky) commentaries at the end of the broadcast until his retirement on Oct. 2.
